Originally from the bustling city of New York, Atkins is the offspring of Robert Atkins and Elizabeth Hayt. His mother, Elizabeth, achieved recognition in the fashion industry as a writer for Vogue magazine and an art historian at the prestigious Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). Meanwhile, his father, Robert Atkins, established himself as a highly esteemed litigation lawyer. As an only child, he received abundant attention and support from his parents, fostering an environment of encouragement and intellectual curiosity.

From a young age, he demonstrated a profound interest in communication and writing, which ultimately led him to pursue a career in this field. Driven by his desire to make an impact in the corporate world, he embarked on a journey that would shape his professional path.

In addition to his exceptional writing skills, Hunter possesses a deep understanding of public relations and crisis management. His initial venture into journalism commenced with a summer internship at the Chicago Sun-Times before college. During his college days, he interned at Newsday. Following his graduation, he embarked on a significant stint as a sports reporter with the New York Times, spanning over four years. Concurrently, he freelanced for ESPN Magazine, Forbes, and other publications in the New York area. His most recent full-time role was with the Houston Chronicle from 2016 to 2020, and he is currently active as a freelance journalist.

His professional arsenal includes diverse skills such as collaborative proficiency, exceptional written communication and storytelling abilities, advanced journalism expertise, effective crisis management, branding know-how, strict deadline adherence, efficient team and non-profit management, adept improvisation, and innovative content creation.

His passion for travel and adventure is evident through his global journeys, which include exploring Italy's Accademia Gallery, participating in the traditional running of the bulls in Spain, attending Formula 1 races in London, delving into the catacombs of France, sandboarding in Nicaragua, enjoying the waters of Thailand, canoeing in Vietnam's Mekong Delta, jungle expeditions in Cambodia, and safari adventures in Tanzania. In addition to these global escapades, his interests span recreational baseball, regenerative farming, and fostering a miniature long-haired dachshund named Cookie.

Hunter Atkins was born to Robert Atkins, a renowned lawyer in litigation, and Elizabeth Hayt, a Vogue fashion writer and art historian at MOMA, growing up as an only child in New York City. His education began at Trevor Day School, where he actively participated in theater and sports and led the school newspaper, showcasing his academic prowess. Commencing his higher education journey at Brown University at 16, he later transitioned to Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, achieving a summa cum laude graduation with a 3.92 GPA in 2011. This resulted from his consistent academic excellence, making the dean's list ten times, and engaging in ambitious journalism projects, including a coveted study abroad program.
